Messing around on the moors in the Abisko trekking tights from Fjallraven, £130. Are these the dream walking leggings?
Review Fjallraven Abisko Trekking tights
Product description: “Technical and durable trekking tights in a highly functional stretch fabric. They combine the freedom of movement of tights with the durability of a pair of trekking trousers. Perfect for all kinds of trekking in the mountains and other rough terrain. The excellent fit and four-way stretch fabric gives a garment that has maximum freedom of movement, that can easily tag along on a shorter or longer climb and that will sit comfortably under a pair of shell trousers if it starts raining.”
Hiking: The Abiskos look tiny before you attempt to put them on, but once you slide them over your legs they fit like a second skin. They manage to be as comfortable and breathable as a lightweight pair of leggings, and you won’t even notice you have them on even when hiking over long distances. But yet, the Abiskos are seriously durable, with tough knee and bottom pads which won’t rip, whatever rocks you fling yourself over. The Abiskos aren’t waterproof, but if the heavens open you can sling a pair of waterproof trousers over them very easily. There are also lots of handy little pockets for bits and pieces. And finally, they look brilliant on – these are the most flattering trekking tights I’ve ever tried on.
Verdict: They ain’t cheap, but Fjallraven’s beautiful Abiskos are everything else you’d look for in trekking tights – seriously comfortable, durable, flexible and a pleasure to wear.
