Rydale Middleham boot review

Product description: “The Rydale Middleham Riding boots offer style and elegance without compromising on practicality and comfort. The thick, rubber walking sole offers support and grip in all weather conditions and across a multitude of terrains.”

Out in the country: These warm and sturdy boots were made for tackling the British countryside. The Rydale Middlehams keep feet cosy and dry even when you’re striding over wet ground, and I found them waterproof enough to withstand a downpour. The soles are as thick and grippy as Rydale claim but don’t weigh you down. The Middlehams aren’t the most breathable boot, and you’ll quickly overheat in warm weather, but that’s not what they’re designed for – these handsome boots are best worn to keep warm in bitter weather when wellies just won’t cut it, and are perfect for riding, working outdoors or just walking the dog on winter mornings.

What impressed me the most was the value for money of the Middlehams – for £100 you get a beautifully made boot that will last years and only look better with age. The Middlehams look extremely smart for an outdoor-ready boot, too, with buttery-soft brown leather and buckle fastenings – wear them from country walk to city pub fuss free. Rydale do a range of riding and outdoor boots in different lengths and mostly under £100 that all look like amazing quality for a decent price.

Verdict: The Middleham is a seriously good-looking cold weather country boot that’ll last you for years, and at £100 it’s a steal.
