sian the girl outdoors blog

I’m Sian, and this is The Girl Outdoors, a blog for anyone who loves adventures. It features travel, sport, photography, outdoor style and gear reviews, and it’s here for inspiration if you feel like you need some fresh air.

I’m 28 and I’m a journalist whose idea of a good time includes falling off surfboards, skiing through powder, running in forests and travelling the world. I’m always looking for the next adventure. I live in Bristol in the UK and when I’m not out in the great outdoors I work a freelance journalist, video producer and presenter. I write an active travel column for the Independent and my work has appeared in titles such as Lonely Planet, Cosmopolitan, Digital Camera Magazine, The Guardian and The Sunday Times Travel Magazine.

The Girl Outdoors is TGO Magazine’s Outdoors Blog of the Year and Webtog’s Best Travel Blog 2015. It’s also been listed as one of Go Outdoors’ top ten blogs, as well as in the top ten adventure blogs and top ten UK outdoors blogs.

The site’s design was created with help from the brilliant Pete Walker of Cap2 Solutions. Illustrations and most photos are by me. Sometimes my awesome and patient friends write stuff and model for me, thanks guys!

I just read your “Feeding the Birds” article in The Simple Things magazine (I live in the US and I’m a little behind in the issues!) and discovered your blog. Very cool!

Hi Sian, I really love your blog – there’s not really anything else like it. It’s so refreshing to find a lady blogger who’s writing about adventurous and practical stuff – not just fashion, beauty and fancy restaurants.
If you have a moment, you should have a read of my blog: http://flickthegreen.com/
I don’t write very often but it’s focussed on the eco and environmental! Thanks! x

Hi Flick, thank you so much! I love your blog too, especially your post about allotments in cities – such a good way to escape to the ‘country’ :) xxx
