Review: Target Dry Emily Parka

The latest addition to my ever-growing collection of nifty little waterproof numbers is the gorgeous Emily (£68.95) from Target Dry, which I have been wearing rather obsessively.

Product description: “The Emily Parka from Target Dry is great for keeping you dry while out and about but still looking stylish. The Emily Coat features a adjustable drawcord waist and curved hem for a flattering silhouette and also cuff tabs allowing you the option to show off the attractive retro dot lining. The coat is also complimented by the brass style poppers and detailing.”

City cycling: Perfect for commuting in spring showers, the Emily is lightweight, durable and totally waterproof – arrive at work covered in mud and throw it off Superman-style to reveal dry hair and clean office clothes below. Magic! It scrunches down small enough to stash in a backpack pocket or bike basket and it’s light enough that you won’t overheat pedalling up hills. Best of all, it’s easy peasy to wash after a liberal splattering of mud.

As a festival coverup: I took my Emily to Love Saves the Day
where it rocked out with the best of them. The drawstring waist, khaki colour and long parka style cut make it essentially a handy little waterproof disguised as a cotton parka, but without the bulk and weight, and it’s perfect worn with denim shorts and wellies, Kate-Moss-At-Glasto style.

Target Dry Emily Parka Review – Verdict:
Sporting the same adorable spotty lining as the Olivia (guaranteed to make you feel more cheerful on even the gloomiest day) the Emily’s lovely parka-style looks render it a cut above your average shapeless waterproof, and its weight (or lack of any) makes it the perfect coverup for everything from spring festivals to coastal walks.
