More lovely things to wear this summer! The sun is shining and festival season is looming in all its cidery, fancy-dressed glory. Here’s my pick of key bits and pieces to pack in your rucksack, just in time for Glastonbury.
1. Original ombre sandals, Teva, £55: I do love a pair of Teva sandals, as I have attested to before. Light, comfortable and indestructible, they’ll do you proud in mud, rain and sun. These ombre beauties and a pair of wellies are the only shoes you need to pack.
2. Striped cotton sweatshirt, Weird Fish, £35: A heavy duty sweater in comfy cotton is a god send when the evening chill hits. This stripy number is easy to wear with everything, with a cheeky neon yellow zip to add a bit of fun. Doubles up as a nice pillow.
3. Berry and Blue hair stain, Chill, £9.99 each: Because if you can’t be a grown woman with blue and purple streaks in her hair at a festival, when can you? Chill’s stains are perfect for a weekend of pretending to be a hippy – you can rub them on your locks with your fingers and they fade out after a few washes.
4. Got2Be Hair powder, Superdrug £2.70: On the topic of festie hair – this handy little tube of powder is a must-pack. Greasy flat locks? Shake it over roots like a polaroid picture if you can’t face washing your hair under a tap again and it’ll make your hair look magically fresh.
5. Cucumber wipes, Boots, £1.50: Well obviously. A session with a wet wipe will instantly make you feel better in the mornings. They wipe away glitter, mud and hangover regret like a boss, and these smell so nice you’ll almost feel like you showered.
6. Vasteras jacket, Berg, £110: I love Berg’s beautifully designed gear, created for the great outdoors but good-looking enough to wear anywhere. This gorgeous jacket in a muted khaki is light, comfy and water repellent. Wear knotted round your waist and stick your valuables and beer money in the zip-up pockets and you’ll be ready for anything. The hood actually fits your head (a rare beast) and has a lovely tropical print inside to cheer you up on rainy days, too.
7. Dungarees, Topshop, £39: Maxi dresses at festivals you say? Hell no, says I. The nineties knew what they were onto – dungarees should be your new outdoor party uniform. They’re comfy, they don’t drag in the mud and if you’re packing light you can just pop a new top underneath each day.
8. Gothenburg t-shirt, Berg, £31: Back on the Berg love – this pretty floral print tee looks fresh and summery but is magically also packed with techie smarts. Dri release® technology wicks away sweat on blazing sunny days and Fresh Guard® stops it smelling funky even after you’ve partied hard.
9. North Hampton wellies, Bogs, £70: If you’re keen to invest in a new pair of wellies pick some brilliant Bogs. They look great, they wick away sweat and you can dance in them all day, blister free. Plus, they’re warmly insulated and withstand low temperatures, so your toes will be toasty when cold weather returns.
10. Jenna long sleeved top, Tog24 £16.95: My stripy fesitval theme continues with these supremely comfortable buttoned tops from Tog24. Soft cotton feels like wearing a cuddle, long sleeves are ideal for chilly mornings and they work perfectly under the dungarees you absolutely have to pack. Plus at £16.95 you could buy a couple in case you spill cider all down one of ’em.
