Jet, set, go! My favourite travel pieces for summer 2017

We’re all going on a summer holiday – pack your bags with these travel-friendly treats, including my go-to carry-on suitcase, comfy flats, sporty sunglasses and the best smelling insect repellent ever.

Summer travel favourites

Delsey Caumartin suitcase, £149 from Amara: Lightweight, tough and lockable, this smart suitcase is carry-on sized but fits a surprising amount, and the sturdy material can take years of battering wherever you go exploring.

Missoni Rufus beach bag, £118 from Amara: A very chic day on the beach calls for this rather luxe towelling bag in cheerful chevrons.

Palmaira sandals, £47.50 from Seasalt: Like a cuddle for your feet. Palmaira sandals, crafted in buttery soft leather and with comfy ankle straps, are inspired by the traditional avarca sandals worn on the sun-bleached island of Menorca, where they are made.

Lulu round towel, £55 from Amara: Create your own little circle of calm by catching some rays on one of these lovely circular beach towels from Amara. Made of 100% soft cotton, they’re printed with a hand-drawn design that reminds us of the blue and white hues of Greek islands.

Wimbledon pewter flats, £90 from Cocorose: Get starry-eyed wherever you wander with these delectably shiny travel flats. Seriously light and comfy, they also roll up into tiny sausages so you can chuck them in a carry-on bag.

21oz Hydro Flask, £26.95 from Yoga Matters: Keep water (or beer, I won’t tell) ice-cold all day on hot adventures with a Hydro flask. Mine is a must-have on flights.

Take a Hike locket £19.50 from Eclectic Eccentricity: Wear your love for the mountains round your neck and store small treasures inside this super-sweet locket from Eclectic Eccentricity.

Alice Caroline Liberty print washbag, £25.95 from Amara: Stash your toiletries in these spacious waterproof bags designed using Liberty print cotton.

Amevie Bamboo sunglasses, £53.50: Polarised to protect your peepers from the harsh sun, Amevie’s lovely lightweight sunnies are made with bamboo and are perfect for stand-up paddleboarding and sailing.

Royal Robbins Kickback microtank, £30: Nomads will love Royal Robbin’s travel-friendly, non creasing layers – you can cart them around the world in a sweaty rucksack and they’ll still look fantastic. Simple, breathable and soft, this no-fuss tank doesn’t show dirt and is ideal for multi-day hikes and camping trips.

One small step necklace, £22.50 from Eclectic Eccentricity: What do you buy for the travelling lady who has everything? How about a mini trip into outer space? I’m a bit obsessed with this lunar landing-inspired necklace.

Moleskine notebook, from £5.99: You’ve got to have a creased and stained diary full of all your roamings around the globe – then you can read to your grandkids about your crazy adventures one day. I like simple Moleskines. Image via Nathalie Neyer.

Aqua D’alfresco mosquito repellent cologne, from £35. Mosquito spray that is also a light, summery perfume – why did no-one think of this before? Smells like a herb garden, keeps no-see-ums at bay. Genius.

Protest MM Superbird bikini top, £24.99: Protest’s flattering floral Superbird bikini top will stay put no matter how much swimming or cliff jumping you want to pack into the summer.

Royal Robbins Calaveras crew, £50: This lightweight jumper is made with Royal Robbin’s travel yarn, designed to keep you warm whilst preventing overheating. Perfect for cool nights on the Mediterranean.

Royal Robbins Ventura shorts, £40: The dream travel shorts are here. I love the linen-y softness and apricot orange hue of the smart Venturas. They make travelling light easy – wear with a crop top in the day and a light shirt at night.
